A festival dedicated to Vienna's culture of wine
Neustifter Kirtag 2024
Thu. 22nd Aug — Sun. 25th Aug
5pm — 10pm
free!
Recommended if you like:
wine fairs, vineyards and vintners, getting drunk in the afternoon, pretending to know what good wine is, weekend entertainment, Austrian-style fun, finally having a reason to dress up in that Dirndl/Lederhosen you bought
This festival is a family fun event during the day, which turns into a good ol’ fashioned Austrian party at night. Neustift am Walde, an area of Vienna’s 19th district, is quite famous for its annual ‘Kirtag’
The Neustifter Kirtag is a wine fair that sees lots of people dress up in Lederhosen and Dirndl and enjoy those Austrian festival vibes. This month, it will be back with four days of some heavy wine drinking and culinary feasting. As well as the traditional procession, some neat togetherness, the chance to buy wine stock for the next 500 years, and one of the best views of the city.

Travel back in time to the early years of techno on Saturday, when the Grelle Forelle invites some old-school heroes to give it their all to create a rave experience, just like in the good old days. Whether you’ve already been alive and partying back then or you’re just reeeaaallly into techno – this should be a good one!

Listen to music and munch your way through food stands at the Rathaus
Filmfestival Rathausplatz 2024

hanging out at the city hall because it’s freaking gorgeous and it makes you feel fancy, opera and ballet on screen, getting drunk with classy wine from Burgenland while watching Swan Lake, cuisine from all around the globe, eating all day long, getting your daily dose of culture while eating like an uncultured beast
Ah, the joys of living in Vienna! There is something quite unique going on every summer in this city’s heart, right at the Rathausplatz. From July to September a great variety of concerts ranging from classic ballets, operas and Jazz to Pop and dance will be shown on a huge screen in front of the Rathaus. For free, we might add.
There’s a huge screen installed in front of the beautiful town hall, with enough seats to accommodate a small village from Vorarlberg. The films begin at sundown. However, from 11am onwards, there are a plethora of food stands featuring cuisine from around the globe. We feel like you can find nearly anything from every corner of this world there. It’s a culinary heaven!
So enjoy sitting in the shade, have a Spritzer and wait for the film to begin. Throughout the summer, most films will be played twice. Most nights, there are also live performances of some sort before the screenings. Check out the full programme.

culture and comedy, being proud of your belly laugh, crowd pleasers, laughs in the park, being jealous of someone else’s hilarity, clapping for talented people, getting dressed up a bit, the smell of mosquito spray
When a former royal garden opens up for the entertainment of us peasants, like the garden of the Palais Schwarzenberg is doing for the summer-long Theater im Park, it might be time to dust off that suit and dress you got in the back of your closet. Ok, you won’t need to dress up for this as it’s a nice casual affair.
